“I’d done it. It was 2022 and I’d landed a job as a Data Analyst with an ASX-listed financial services company.
My dream. And I’d be working with Data Engineers, Data Scientists and BI Developers alike.
One year later there were two big problems:
I sucked (not actually a big deal, everyone learns at the start)
I had no motivation or aspiration to get better and learn (a much bigger problem)
I loved the industry just not doing the actual work…
At the time, my then manager had recently asked me to recruit for the team.
And I found hiring data analysts was a lot easier given I knew the job…
And I’d worked in recruitment before so the tricks of the trade were in my hands.
That’s when the idea came: let’s combine my recruitment and data analytics experience into a specialised agency.
Ideas a great…but a lot of the time that’s just what they are…ideas.
But the ONE thing that made me execute on this was that I new with 100% certainty that I’d regret not doing it.
That meant being a success or failure didn’t matter in the long run.
Just as long as I had no regrets.
That was 3 years ago, now we’re a growing agency building people, building community and building businesses.

Doug began his career as a data analyst before moving into recruitment, giving him a unique edge in connecting top data, AI and analytics talent with businesses. As Director of DR Analytics Recruitment, he focuses on three pillars: building people through guidance and support, building community through Industry Inner Join events, and building businesses by delivering the top 1% of candidates. With deep technical expertise and a thriving network, Doug helps organisations secure data analysts, engineers, scientists and leaders. He’s also a regular speaker on building data teams and career development in analytics.

Starting with the team as a graduate in 2024, Rachel has quickly married her education in business psychology and data analytics to master the permanent recruitment landscape in Perth. Rachel brings a calm methodical approach to recruitment which is welcomed in the face of an industry that is typically very transactional.
